Rocky Valley Contractors was built on a straightforward idea: do great work, show up when you say you will, and treat every homeowner's project like it's your own home. That's the standard Roy set when he founded the company, and it's the standard the entire team holds to this day.
Roy has been roofing in the Vail Valley for over 20 years. Alongside him, Team Lead Horacio Medina brings over 20 years of roofing experience and oversees field operations, crew performance, and quality control on every project. He's worked on everything from small cabin repairs in Minturn to major estate replacements in Cordillera — and he still personally reviews every estimate before it goes to a client. When you call Rocky Valley, there's a real chance Roy is the one who answers.
Rocky Valley is a family-owned business, based in Gypsum, at the center of the Eagle Valley. That location matters: we're 15 minutes from Avon, 20 minutes from Vail, and close enough to every community we serve that we can respond quickly when something goes wrong.

We don't oversell. We inspect your roof and tell you honestly what we find. If you need a full replacement, we'll explain why. If a targeted repair will solve the problem for a few more years, we'll recommend that instead — even if it's a smaller job for us.

Rocky Valley Contractors didn’t begin as a franchise or a large construction company. It began with Roy and Rosie Valenzuela, a young family, years of hard work in the Vail Valley, and a dream of building something of their own.

Before Rocky Valley
Years of Experience in the Vail Valley
Roy and Rosie Valenzuela came to the United States at a young age and built their lives in Colorado's mountain communities. Roy worked in the roofing industry for years, gaining hands-on experience with the materials, homes, and demanding conditions that make roofing in the Vail Valley unique. Over time, the idea of building a family business of their own began to take shape.

2016
Rocky Valley Contractors Is Born
In 2016, Roy and Rosie decided to take the leap and start Rocky Valley Contractors. Based in Gypsum, the company began with a simple goal: do quality work, treat people well, and build a business their family could be proud of. It was truly a family effort from the beginning — their children were young at the time but even helped with some of the company's early advertising as Roy and Rosie worked to establish Rocky Valley in the community.

Building a Reputation in the Valley
Project by project and referral by referral, Rocky Valley grew throughout the Vail Valley. The company expanded from everyday roofing work into larger residential projects and developed experience with the complex rooflines, premium materials, and architectural requirements common to Colorado mountain homes.

2020s
Expanding Our Craft
As the company grew, so did its capabilities. Rocky Valley expanded its work in custom standing seam metal roofing, DaVinci and Brava composite roofing, custom-fabricated gutters and downspouts, heat tape, repairs, inspections, stucco, and plaster. Investment in equipment and in-house fabrication has allowed the company to take on increasingly detailed custom projects while maintaining control over craftsmanship from the shop to the jobsite.
